Presstek Corporation, a leading supplier of direct imaging equipment, had a problem: Their pioneering technology was rapidly being adopted and their biggest customer was predicting a significant increase in sales.
Lampin had always supplied the lens holder components, which are critical to the alignment and focus of the laser technology at the heart of Presstek’s equipment. These components require precision tolerances to .0002 inch, low reflectivity, fine threads for adjustment, and use of various metals and plastics.
In spite of excellent past performance, it was obvious that Lampin could not support the increased production levels without major changes. Within hours of discussions with Presstek, Lampin ordered new equipment, secured additional material sources, and adjusted work schedules to accommodate round-the-clock production. Delivery commitments were met, and today Presstek is the leading supplier of direct imaging equipment to the printing industry.
